GRADUATE DIPLOMA OF COUNTERTERRORISM LEADERSHIP

Welcome to the Graduate Diploma of Counterterrorism Leadership. Graduates from the Graduate Diploma of Counterterrorism Leadership will demonstrate knowledge in the discipline area of counterterrorism who embody integrity, professional knowledge and social skills, making a positive contribution to society.

The Graduate Diploma of Counterterrorism Leadership draws on the expertise of GLI faculty in counterterrorism leadership. It introduces students to a broad range of counterterrorism leadership technical and theoretical concepts. Graduates will be equipped with writing and research skills to prepare them for further study and will be able to demonstrate an ability to apply a body of knowledge across a range of contexts. Graduates will also have developed skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication at a postgraduate level.

Through these areas, the course develops transformative organisational and counterterrorism leadership capabilities which will enable police managers, police leaders and field specialist to thrive in the current global counterterrorism and cybercrime environment and actively and strategically pursue terrorists and cyber criminals.

Graduates of the Diploma of Counterterrorism Leadership may find employment in a range of policing, leadership, global counterterrorism and cyber security organisations, as well as other professional and educational contexts that require research skills and critical thinking. This course also allows flexibility for students who may wish to start with a shorter postgraduate course before committing to a Masters program or for students who need to exit the Masters program earlier than intended, due to unforeseen personal or professional reasons.

Structure of the course of study The course structure is based on two semesters (each of 13 weeks duration).

To qualify for award of Graduate Diploma of Counterterrorism Leadership a candidate shall accrue an aggregate of at least 80 credit points, including satisfactory completion of the core units noted below.
